Special Educational Needs (SEND) and Inclusion policy
The Government recently reviewed how children with needs are provided for within the educational system. The document which describes the statutory requirements and guidance is known as the SEND Code of Practice. One of the new requirements is for local education authorities to publish what is known as the Local Offer and for schools to do the same. Click on the link to read our school's local offer. If your child is struggling with aspects of his/her learning it does not mean that they have special needs. Sometimes a child can find a particular aspect of a subject difficult or due to absence has missed crucial steps in their learning in previous weeks, terms or years. Teaching staff regularly assess progress and adapt lesson content and strategies to suit the needs of the children in their class. This is called differentiation and most children make progress as a result. However if you have any concerns please speak to your child's class teacher.
