St Cuthbert's Catholic School

St Cuthbert's Catholic School

SEND

At St. Cuthbert's Catholic Primary School, we value all children equally and recognise that each bears within them the image of Christ. This shapes all we do as a school - how we treat each other, how we organise our school, and how we interact with all those in our community. For this reason we are an inclusive school, committed to ensuring each child receives their entitlement to the the best possible education. Within a caring and mutually supportive environment we aim to:

  • Build upon the strengths and achievements of the child.

  • Create an environment in which all are valued, have respect for one another, and grow in self-esteem.

  • Give equal access as far as possible to all aspects of school life through academic, social and practical experiences.

  • Assess regularly so those with educational or personal needs are identified - and have their needs met - as early as possible.

  • Develop an inclusive environment in which training is given to ensure children have their needs met in an effective and supportive way

The Government sets out the statutory requirements and guidance for those with special educational needs in a document known as the SEND Code of Practice. One of the new requirements of this document is for local education authorities (LEA) to publish what is known as the Local Offer, and for schools to do the same. See below for the Cumbria SEND Local Offer and the school SEND Policy

Our SEND Co-ordinator is Mrs Daniella Mason who can be contacted directly on sendco@st-cuthberts-carlisle.cumbria.sch.uk
