Phonics and Reading

Every day, we learn how to read and write through phonics. The programme we use is 'Success For All Phonics'. The parental portal is available by following the link below, where you will find tips and books available to read online.

Children are sent home with books suited to their stage of reading, which need to be brought into school every day. They are able to decode (sound out words, e.g. d-o-g) and blend words (dog) as taught in phonics sessions. Children will become more fluent readers as the year goes on and with more practise. Please try and read as much as possible at home each night and make sure to sign reading diaries.
