Absence

How to report an absence

Please contact the school on 01228 818201 before 9:00 am to report an absence. Please state clearly your child’s name and the reason for the absence.  School may contact you to discuss the nature of the absence and to provide support to enable all children to achieve the best level of attendance possible.

School monitors all absence in school closely and will invite parents for attendance meetings if a child’s attendance give cause for concern, or there are patterns of absence.

Parents of children with attendance below 90% will be involved in attendance panel meetings to ensure attendance improves.

We encourage all children to attend school regularly and will provide rewards for excellent attendance.

Holidays during term time

Holidays during term time will not be authorised except in exceptional circumstances.  Parents wishing to request a holiday must write to the Headteacher, Mrs Hutchinson, stating the exceptional circumstances.  The Headteacher may request additional information, including written evidence from your place of work.  You will be contacted to discuss the matter with the Headteacher.

Any holidays taken in school time will be classed as unauthorised, unless written permission is granted by the Headteacher for exceptional circumstances. In accordance with legislation, you may face legal and financial sanctions as follows:

  • A fixed penalty notice of £120.00
  • An education supervision order issued by the family court.
  • Prosecution in a magistrates court.
