Pastoral Care Lead (permanent) – St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School

(part of the Mater Christi Multi-Academy Trust)

Start Date: as soon as available

NJC Spine 19 - PCD8i Annual Salary £25,481-£25,991

25hrs per week, pro rata £13.21 per hr,

Working week Monday – Friday, between hours of 8.30am- 4.30pm (flexible working will be considered)

The governors of St. Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a committed and motivated individual to join our team and take responsibility for pastoral and welfare support for the pupils and families in our schools. We are looking for someone to work closely with the school leadership team to support our children and families in a non-judgemental manner, promoting positive attitudes to learning and behaviour amongst all. The successful candidate will recognise the vital importance of school and be as committed as we are to ensuring all children attend, work well when they are here, and receive all necessary support they require in order to do so.

To do this, you will need to work effectively with a range of professionals within school, including class teachers, TAs, the SENDCo, the school leadership team and school governors, so commitment to teamwork is essential. There will be close working with external agencies, so a commitment to confidentiality and high professional standards is vital. You will also liaise with parents/carers on safeguarding and welfare issues, so good communication skills and a non-confrontational style is crucial. Whilst experience of working with children who have additional support needs will be beneficial, an unflinching desire to support our most vulnerable families is the characteristic we most wish to see in any successful applicant.

We anticipate that this post may be of interest to those with a background in education or Children’s Services (including wider welfare and support services) and would welcome applications from those with experience of either.

In return, we can offer:

• A committed, hardworking and supportive team working to deliver excellent outcomes for all the children in our care
• An opportunity to become a key part of an ambitious organisation that invests in staff development and seeks to support all staff to deliver excellent practice
• A school committed to making a positive difference to the lives of the families and communities we serve
• Opportunities to collaborate with external agencies and develop expertise across a wide range of service areas

If you think you could be the person we are looking for, then we would love to hear from you. You can download the application pack from our website at or via the school office on

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the job further, then please contact the school office on 01228 401800 and the Executive Headteacher would be pleased to speak with you.

St. Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of our children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applications will be subject to vetting and recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS, excellent references and a pre-medical assessment.

Closing date for applications: Friday 22nd October at 12.00 noon

Interview date: Monday November 8th, 2021
