HRE
Our Mission Statement
At St. Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School, it is our mission to provide the families of Carlisle with an education where every child is cared for and taught well to enable them to reach their full potential in all they do. We work with parents to ensure their children are fulfilled spiritually, emotionally, and educationally, shaped by our belief that every child bears the image of Christ.
Using the expertise of the excellent teachers in our school, we provide unique and exciting opportunities for our pupils, and develop a sense of confidence and pride in every member of our community.
The Importance of HRE
Health and Relationships Education (HRE) enables children to become independent, caring, healthy and responsible individuals prepared for their future adult life as a valued citizen in our ever-changing society. HRE provides children with learning opportunities that develops their knowledge, understanding and skills to live a healthy, fulfilled and safe life.
HRE links to our Gospel Values encouraging children to reflect and clarify their own values and attitudes and those of the Catholic ethos and develop into well-mannered, confident, and responsible individuals who treat others with care and kindness. Alongside Religious Education and Worship, HRE enables children to develop their understanding of British Values of Democracy, The rule of law, Individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
The umbrella of our HRE Curriculum encircles Personal, Social, Relationships and Health Education, Drugs and Alcohol Education, Online Safety and Mental Health. HRE makes a significant contribute to the whole child and at St. Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School we aim to support our children to have a full life as a person and as a learner personally, spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally.
